Today is Challenge 90 over at the Ai Blog today. And the challenge is to incorporate "Newspaper" into your card. Well, it's kinda funny how I came about my card. A couple of weeks ago I received some junk mail in my mail box. It looked like a regular handwritten letter, but inside was a half a page of newspaper about the "Financial Markets". Well since I purchased Ai Slots Jean stamp SKU# 3510 a while back, I thought of combining the newspaper with Slots Jean for this weeks challenge. (Wealth and slot machines, hehe!) I think it turned out! Its kind of fun too!
I used a square 5-1/2"x5-1/2" kraft card base, and layered that with orange SU! cardstock. Then I cut down the newspaper making sure title was showing front and center at the top. I adhered the newspaper to a piece of white cardstock, cut it down so it would fit on top the orange cardstock, and ran it through a spots embossing folder. (I had to run it through twice because it was A2 size folder, and my card is bigger than that size). Then I took my tea dye ink and sponged dye ink all over the entire embossed newspaper image, so you can see the dry embossing better. I love that distressed look. Then I sewed the layers together. I stamped "Slots Jean" SKU# 3510, in black, and colored her in with copic markers. (NOTE: I always pick out my designer paper FIRST and then color my image in according to the colors of the designer paper-that makes it SO MUCH EASIER). Then I layered the colored image onto kraft cardstock, and distressed the edges. I layered "Slots Jean" over the designer paper, and for embellishments I added two color coordinated buttons threaded with natural twine. I decided my card needed a little something more, so I added a strip of red small scallops border
For the inside of my card I stamped the two sentiment images that come in the Slots Jean stamp set, SKU# 3510. The word "Jackpot" was colored in with a red copic marker. Well that's it for my Ai Challenge #90 post. Please stop by the Art Impressions blog and see what the other Ai design team members have come up with for the newspaper challenge.
